Our
goals
Design of complex artifacts and systems requires
the cooperation of multidisciplinary design teams using multiple sophisticated
commercial and non-commercial engineering tools such as CAD tools, modeling,
simulation and optimization software, engineering databases, and knowledge-based
systems. Individuals or individual groups of multidisciplinary design
teams usually work in parallel and separately with various engineering
tools, which are located on different sites, often for quite a long
time. At any moment, individual members may be working on different
versions of a design or viewing the design from various perspectives,
at different levels of details. In order to meet these requirements,
it is necessary to have efficient computer supported collaborative design
systems. These systems should not only automate individual tasks, in
the manner of traditional computer-aided engineering tools, but also
enable individual members to share information, collaborate and coordinate
their activities within the context of a design project. This technical
committee focuses on research and development on CSCW techniques as
well as their applications to collaborative design, manufacturing, construction,
other businesses and industries. This technical committee is based on
the stand-alone international working group on the same topic established
in 1998. It provides a forum for researchers and practitioners involved
in different but related domains to exchange ideas and discuss key issues
on the development of CSCW techniques and their applications to collaborative
design, manufacturing, construction, businesses, and services.
What we are doing
- Annual international conferences on Computer Supported Cooperative
Work in Design (http://www.cscwd.org/)
- Annual Technical Committee member meetings at CSCWD conferences and IEEE SMC conferences
- Special session(s) at annual IEEE SMC conferences
- Special issues based on CSCWD conferences with the IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, Part A or C, International Journal of Advanced Engineering Informatics, Computers in Industry, etc.
Why don't
you join us?
- Interacting with researchers and practitioners within an established
international collaboration network with a history of 11 successful
international conferences.
- Exchanging research ideas and developing collaborations.
- Publishing research results in a timely manner through international
conferences and journal special issues.
- Meeting old friends and making new friends from different parts
of the world
