Call for Nominations for SMCS President-Elect
and Members-at-Large
In October 2008, the Board of Governors will elect
the 2009 President-Elect/2010-11 President of the SMC Society. In
addition, five members of the Society will be elected for three-year
terms beginning 2009. As members of the Board of Governors, they
will represent the members of the SMC Society and approve the annual
budget, amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws, elect Society
officers, and authorize the expenditure of Society funds. All members
of the Board of Governors are expected to attend the annual meeting
each October for which transportation and living expenses are reimbursed.
Nominations are requested for the position of 2009 President-Elect/2010-11
President and 2009-2011 Members-at-Large. All nominations should
be submitted as a Word or pdf file, and include the following information:
- Full name and contact details
- IEEE member number
- Contributions to the profession (max 200 words)
- Contributions to the SMC Society and the IEEE (max 200 words)
According to the SMCS Bylaws "All candidates for Vice President
shall have been a member of BoG or ExCom sometime during the past
5 years and served for at least one year. The candidates for President-Elect
and President shall have served at least one year as a Vice President.
All BoG, President, President-Elect, and Vice President nominees
must be members of the Society at the time ballots are distributed.

nominations is July 15, 2008.
Call for Petition Candidates for Members-at-Large of the
SMCS Board of Governors
According to Article 1, Section 2 of the SMC Society Bylaws, nominations
by the SMCS membership for Members-at-Largefor the BoG will be solicited
at the BoG Meeting and by announcement posted on the SMCS web site.
These nominations must be made by written petition, signed by at
least two percent of the SMCS members, and filed with the SMCS Secretary
at least 28 days before the date of election. All petitions for
Members-at-Large must be submitted to the Secretary
and a copy to the Nominations Chair no later than September 19.
