Our
goals
Granular Computing (GrC) is a general computation theory for effectively
using granules such as classes, clusters, subsets, groups and intervals
to build an efficient computational model for complex applications with
huge amounts of data, information and knowledge. The goal of the technique
committee is to provide a forum to help establish the core ideas and
develop the approaches of GrC. Especially, the concrete goals of the
TC include the following:
- to give deep understanding of human cognition from the viewpoint
of granular computing
- to give theoretical foundations of reasoning with information granularities
- to promote GrC area for applications
- to give special opportunities for researchers on granular computing
and other areas to exchange their idea
What we are doing
- Organizing special sessions at WCCI 2008
- Organizing special sessions at SMC 2008
- Technically supporting IEEE GrC 2008
- Technically sponsoring ISDA 2008
Why don't
you join us?
Though the label is relatively recent, the basic
notions and principles of granular computing have appeared in many related
fields, such as information hiding in programming, granularity in artificial
intelligence, divide and conquer in theoretical computer science, interval
computing, cluster analysis, fuzzy and rough set theories, neutrosophic
computing, quotient space theory, belief functions, machine learning,
databases, and many others. We welcome anyone who is interested in this
field to join us. Through the TC, we may share and discuss new results
in research, development and applications of granular computing and
promote an exchange of ideas and cooperation. If you would like to join,
please contact the TC chairs.
